It would be nice to be friends with everyone. But, let's face it. We don't always have things in common with the next person.
As an expat, I've found, in almost every location we've lived, that I've had that unlikely friend. You know, that one you have nothing really in common with, but because of time and/or location you've shared a bond.
It could be a national or another expat.
You could be an extreme extrovert and they an extreme introvert.
They could be 20 years older or you could be 10 years older than them.
It could be similar struggles in your new home, circumstances of a job, your kids are good friends, learning a new language together, they really like foreigners, want to speak English, you need a language partner or it could simply be that you're both just trying to navigate this expat life.

Some of these friends have ended up being my biggest cheerleaders and I'm always so thankful that God put them in my path when in any "normal" circumstance we may have never met or never found anything in common.
Now, of course I realize this kind of friend can happen in your home country, but have you found that unlikely friend?
I realize this is my second post today, but this was a topic I was eager to join!
