PTF

PTF stand for Parent Teacher Fellowship at the kid's school, ICSV (International Christian School of Vienna).  I know, lots of acronyms!

Back when we visited the school in April I felt getting involved at the school would be a great ministry opportunity for me.  One thing I was extremely drawn to was the Parent Teacher Fellowship.  It's along the same lines of PTA in the US.

After moving here, I was approached by the newly appointed director of the school to pray about getting involved in the leadership of the PTF.  I thought it would be in the role of a committee member.  I soon learned that his plan was for me to be the director!!  Ack!  Yikes!!

I was a little thrown at first, feeling under qualified, but I had such a peace that the Lord was laying an incredible ministry opportunity right at my feet!  Even though this is a Christian school the percentage of kids that come from Christian homes is at about 50%.

The past couple of years the PTF has been run by a teacher due to no one else taking it on.  This teacher will be returning to the States next year, so it worked out perfectly for this year to overlap so she can show me the ropes.  And I am happy for the years of notes that have been taken!  It's one thick book!

A few of our colleagues are helping out on the committee and even one of the men will do outreach to dads.  I'm looking to reorganize a bit because I can't keep the same format as the teacher has done.  Just not enough time!  Even though their is a committee, it is not a functioning one in the sense of a secretary, treasurer, etc.  So I plan to change that so the work is spread out.  It will help me tremendously!

I've now had 2 events.  And both went well.  A new parent brunch and an annual fall festival.

And we just decorated this Christmas tree this past week.

I'm learning a lot about planning, table decorating, event coordinating and so much more.  I made these cute little table decorations for the brunch.
We are thinking and praying about the direction the Lord is leading us with this ministry and the many activities and services we could offer.
