Dum U Minuty

Dum U Minuty, "House at the Minute."

I had to do some research on how these designs on buildings are created. It is called sgraffito.
The original house was Gothic and built at the beginning of the 15th century. The present Renaissance house that you see here was built in 1610. It has a facade decorated with ornamental sgraffito, depicting themes from Greek mythology, Bible and Renaissance legends. Franz Kafka's family lived on the second floor of this building from 1889 to 1896.

  1. Thanks for the lesson. Now the picture means so much more! I only wish I could see it in person.
