In the Spring of 2007 a quick, 3 day work retreat took us to a pension (small hotel) near the beautiful area known as Český Ráj, translated Czech Paradise, north of Prague.
We had no idea what was in store for us!
Tight passageways leading upwards through the rocks.
Taking us directly to these beautiful views!
Where's Waldo! Can you find the rock climber in the photo below?
Such a gorgeous area that I wish we'd been able to spend more time or get back to before we moved away.
At least I am glad we got to see this beautiful phenomenon.
If you find yourself in Czech Republic, especially if you enjoy hiking or climbing, make your way to Czech Paradise! You will not be disappointed!
Would you enjoy making a tight squeeze through these massive rocks?

Wow! The formation is huge!! And your pictures are gorgeous! There is a similiar rock formation close to where I live in Germany but it's not nearly as huge!
ReplyDeleteI neeeed to go back to the Czech Republic! I only had enough time to go to Prague for a weekend. I would love to go hiking in the Czech Republic someday!
ReplyDeleteThat is one brave rock climber! Those rock formations are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLove this post! Cesky raj is tops on my list of places to go before I leave CZ... I really hope I can make it happen. The hills of the northern region are stunning-- their shape is unlike any other hills I've seen before. Just makes you wanna try and climb 'em :)
ReplyDeletewhaaat! that is so cool. a little claustrophobic over here, but those views look worth it!
ReplyDeleteNever heard of Cesky Raj, but since we're moving to 30 minutes from the Czech border, it's now on my list! Yay!
ReplyDeleteThanks!! They really are huge! Especially to have the visual of a rock climber on one of them. Gives you a true picture of just how big they are.
ReplyDeletePrague is definitely a gem for Czech republic, but I was amazed at the beauty across the country. There are some truly beautiful areas!! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine! I'd love to get back to see them again one day!
ReplyDeleteThanks!! You must! It's such an amazing place!
ReplyDeleteThey would definitely be worth it! :)
ReplyDeleteA good choice to add to the list! You'll be in close proximity to lots of amazing places! That's what I love about that area. So much to see and do in a short distance!
ReplyDeleteWow, this does look like a magical place! I could be taken straight out of a fairytale! :) I definitely need to start exploring Eastern Europe a little bit more - I've been to Ukraine and Hungary once, but for the most part I know nothing of this part in the world and as your post shows, there are obviously many beautiful things to discover! :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks so cool! I completely agree with Melanie that it looks fairy tale- esque! x
ReplyDeleteWow how incredible! I love the views. Adding it to my Czech list :D
ReplyDeleteWow how beautiful! I had no idea something like this existed in the Czech Republic! Thanks for adding one more thing to my list :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this; I went there about 35 years ago as a child when I lived in Prague and had no idea what it was called. I've never forgotten the place and I'm so happy to see it again.
ReplyDeleteSo much beautiful nature! I love the greenery and the unique designs on the rocks. I was just in Prague for Easter, but I'd love to go back and explore more of the Czech Republic. This would be a great hike!
ReplyDeleteThere have been a few movies filmed in the area. Not sure if they were fairytales or not. :) There are some great places in Central & Eastern Europe. My favorites being Czech Republic and Slovenia. I've heard great things about Croatia too.
ReplyDeleteDo it!! :)
ReplyDeleteIt is almost unreal looking!
ReplyDeleteA great addition and not too far from Prague!
ReplyDeleteGreat addition! ;)
ReplyDeleteThat's great! I think there are actually a few areas like this in Czech Republic. One is called Adrspach: http://www.czechtourism.com/c/adrspach-teplice-rocks/ It's one of the filming locations of Chronicles of Narnia.
ReplyDeleteIt is and there is more of it across Czech Republic that tourists know little about.
ReplyDeleteCroatia is a place that I am itching to visit! :)
ReplyDeleteI love climbing around on rocks, especially when it leads to some great views!
ReplyDeleteWhat an adventure! I will definitely have to check this place out if/when I visit the Czech Republic!
ReplyDeleteWow, this place looks absolutely stunning! Exactly my kind of adventure.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to go back and do it again!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! Not well known outside of Czech Republic. I think maybe the Czechs want to keep it all to themselves. ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd they were definitely great views!
ReplyDeleteThose rock formations are pretty spectacular!! We live in an amazing world don't we?
