Pez!

Did you know that Pez was invented in 1927 by an Austrian inventor, originally created as a cigarette replacement?  Pez comes from the German word pfefferminze as the candy was originally peppermint flavored.

Initial sales of the candy in the US were low when presented in 1952.  Eduard Haas decided to redo the packaging, create a dispenser that doubled as a toy with a cartoon head and created fruity flavors.

I considered collecting Pez dispensers, but decided against it.  We just don't need more clutter.  I have seen some creative ones.

 Easter Pez!

Excuse the blur!  I've got to get over worrying about people watching as I take pictures!  Ha!

 Gummy Pez
Have they made it to the US?

As you can see above, the dispensers aren't anything like the hard candy, but the gummy candies are good!

There you have a little tidbit about Austria!

  1. Awesome! We love Pez. Don't officially collect, but we have several superhero varieties. :)
