We got there late Monday evening. Our flight was delayed a bit so we didn't get to bed until almost 2 am our time. The kids did so well though! Our first night we stayed at a hotel near the Gatwick airport, then Tuesday headed to our hotel near the city center.
There is a nice little Christian hotel called The Highbury Centre. They give discounts to missionaries. It's no 5 star hotel, but it's cheap (for London) and in a great location to downtown.
After dropping our bags in our room, we headed to Oxford Street.
Riding the tube.
It was crazy busy!! Look at all those people!!
First stop, The Disney Store.
The kids had some Christmas money to spend.
It was still all decked out for Christmas. And they were having some sales!
Karis picked out a robe and bag. Reegan picked out slippers and a Repunzel doll.It took Brennan a while to decide, but he settled on Hulk!
I never tire of seeing these buses!!
We decided to get off the beaten path a bit and have a snack, or "picnic" as our family calls it.
We then headed to meet our friends and colleagues, the James, who were also in London. We ate some dinner and headed to Chinatown. The gates of Chinatown.
The kids had fun playing in the phone booth. This is where Reegan decided to LICK, yes, you read that right, lick a phone booth! I have no idea what came over her to do such a thing. You don't think to tell your kids, "Don't lick the phone booth!"
We figured out that one of the buses that goes by our hotel went straight downtown. It was a longer ride, but we got to ride on top of a double decker bus the whole ride. Half way through the ride, we snagged some seats at the top, front of the bus. They really enjoyed that and pretended they were the driver.
We had a great first day!!! I'll be back to share more!
Oh my word, London is my favorite city as well! Glad you had a fun first day! :)
